Pedestal Sinks
Porcelain pedestal sinks made to measure – free-standing, 50–120 cm
A pedestal sink – a free-standing or column sink – stands on the floor by itself, with no cabinet beneath it. Ours is a porcelain column 85 cm high, 50 to 120 cm wide and 35 to 60 cm deep, made to measure at our factory in Israel. Three models: RETOR, CLASSIC and MODERN.
How a porcelain pedestal sink is built
The column is made of porcelain slabs with corners mitred at 45°, so the finish wraps the sink on every side. The back panel has a plumbing access opening, and the tap goes on the sink – a tap hole in the rim – or on the wall, with no hole. There are more than 30 slab finishes: matt white, greys, veined marble, dark stone and wood grain. Like all our porcelain sinks, the slab does not absorb water, so it resists stains, heat and the scratches of daily use.
Who a pedestal sink suits
A room where you do not want a cabinet: a guest WC, a small bathroom, or a room where the wall is less suited to hanging. A 50 cm sink fits even a narrow guest WC; a 120 cm sink gives a wide surface to put things on without another piece of furniture. If you want a sink that sits on a cabinet, see the integral sinks, and all porcelain kinds in porcelain sinks.
Pedestal sink or sink on a cabinet?
A pedestal sink needs no cabinet, so it suits a small room and anyone who wants a clear floor – but it has no storage. An integral sink on a cabinet gives you drawers and a top, and also comes as a double, up to 250 cm wide. In a main bathroom you usually want storage; in a guest WC a pedestal sink saves space and looks clean. If you are looking for a sink on a cabinet, see the integral sinks; all porcelain types are under porcelain sinks.
